What do the results mean?

The results show trademarks with a similar visual appearance or sound in the EUIPO register – for combined word/figurative marks, only the word element is compared, not the overall impression of the mark. The similarity assessment compares only the wording of the marks. Whether the respective goods and services are actually comparable is not checked automatically. Only the Nice classes are shown, not a substantive comparison. Figurative marks without a word element, national trademarks outside the EUIPO register, and unregistered signs are not covered. Whether this amounts to a legal likelihood of confusion additionally depends on further factors, including the similarity of the goods and services and the distinctive character of the earlier mark. Because these factors interact with one another, assessing the likelihood of confusion requires an individual review of the specific case.
